BOLD Community Hub | An online networked community space

Project Description: This is an online community space designed for the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network, an inter-generational initiative across several institutions of higher education including Middlebury. The BOLD Network is focused on developing courageous leadership among college women who possess the skills necessary to move discourse forward on some of the most challenging social issues in the United States. BOLD provides scholarships and professional development opportunities to outstanding women student leaders from all backgrounds, especially those who have been significantly underrepresented in higher education in terms of socioeconomic class, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, citizenship, and ability.

Design: This community space is built with a full-installation of WordPress and designed in partnership with staff and leadership from BOLD. As part of their participation in the program, BOLD scholars form an active digital community in this mobile-friendly hub, where together they share ideas, form connections, and  develop transformational project plans that make an impact on their campuses, in their communities, and in the world. Design highlights include clear navigation, vibrant visuals, and a private, members-only connection space where scholars can connect, communicate and collaborate.

Additional Features: In addition to the private connection space, the BOLD Community Hub project provides each scholar with a domain of her own which she then is invited to build into her own web presence and syndicate into the Hub. The result is a blog space that weaves in voices of scholars from across the BOLD Women’s Leadership Network, providing additional opportunities to connect and reflect as a group across multiple institutions. The Hub news feed is comprised of a syndication of selected participant blog posts which can be accessed by all and which provide both an inward-facing and and outward-facing space to read and digest scholar musings.
